A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
Theft: Two cellphones and a small sum of money were taken from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Renwick Drive.
Criminal damaging: Someone damaged a portion of the roof to a home in the 6500 block of Pacifica Drive, as well as a nearby car.
Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 near Clingan Road led to the arrest of 49-year-old Tonya J. Mentzer, no address listed, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
Harassment: A Melrose Avenue man reported receiving eight calls claiming he had won a lottery drawing.
Harassment: Someone made several sexually explicit and harassing calls to a Simon Road auto-care business.
Burglary: To a residence in the 7000 block of Southern Boulevard after someone pried open a rear window. A 32-inch flat-screen TV was stolen.
Arrest: Stacy M. Walker, 32, of 15 Herbster St., Columbiana, and Robbie Sims, 53, of 1060 Fairview Ave., Youngstown, were taken into custody during a traffic stop in the 800 block of East Midlothian Boulevard. Both were wanted on warrants accusing them of failing to appear in court.
Arrest: A vehicle check near Sheridan Road resulted in the arrest of 37-year-old Kira J. Reyes, 488 Sexton St., Struthers. Reyes was wanted on a warrant from Stark County.
Burglary: Someone used a rock to break a rear window, then enter a home in the 800 block of Indianola Road. Nothing appeared to be missing or out of place, however.
Domestic violence: David E. Owens, 37, of 5110 Allen Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his former wife alleged Owens had struck her several times in the chest and pushed her during an argument related to a custody exchange of their children.
Theft: A Market Street woman reported the theft of an $82 pair of tennis shoes from a bedroom.
Harassment: A Pioneer Drive man told police someone in Jamaica called 15 times claiming the accuser had won $25 million and a new car but first needed to make a payment to cover the long-distance calls.
Weapons/drugs: Ritchie A. Boukrab, 18, and Lahsen I. Boukrab, 20, both of 6890 Southern Blvd., Boardman, were given summonses during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 charging them with carrying concealed weapons, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a child when, police said, a suspected marijuana pipe was found and both Boukrabs failed to notify officers about knives they had. Also, authorities cited a 17-year-old Youngstown boy on a misdemeanor marijuana-possession charge.
Felonious assault: Michael M. Luzar, 27, of 4401 South Ave., Boardman, surrendered on a warrant charging him after a man at a Market Street business alleged that while playing pool, Luzar became enraged after having lost the game and struck the accuser’s face with a cue ball, knocking out a tooth and causing a swollen jaw.
Criminal damaging/arson: Someone spray-painted graffiti on the side of a building in the 5100 block of Market Street and burned items near an exit to the structure.
Harassment: A Winterberry Drive woman reported receiving an unwanted sexual call.
Theft: The rear license-plate was stolen off a car in the 8000 block of Southern Boulevard.
Theft: Someone stole a $500 iPod from Pac Sun in the Southern Park Mall.
Assault: A worker with a Hillman Way salon told officers a woman around age 30 squeezed her neck, then fled in a vehicle.
Theft: A man was detained but not charged after reportedly stealing $49 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone trying to break into Dollar General, 5953 South Ave., damaged a door frame.
Theft: David C. Fasano, 31, of 4299 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, was charged, accused of trying to steal a $65 pair of shoes from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Assault: Ernest E. Sigle, 78, of 130 Talisman Drive, Canfield, was picked up in the 1500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road on a simple-assault charge after a man alleged that Sigle had choked him and smacked his face during a meeting at a Boardman church.
Theft by deception: A Youngstown woman told officers a friend tricked her into cashing a $5,000 bad check at a township credit union and withdrawing the funds.
Theft: An employee with a Southern Park Mall store discovered 15-inch wheel covers were removed from his vehicle.
Theft: A man in his 40s stole a $175 iPod from best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.
Harassment: A Paxton Road man reported a tenant to whom he had issued an eviction notice sent him several derogatory text messages.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to enter a business in the 5900 block of South Avenue and broke a door knob.
Assault: Police responded to a possible fight near a playground in the 5500 block of Market Street, where a 15-year-old girl said she had been punched on the left side of her mouth.
Theft: A vehicle’s front license plate was removed in the 700 block of Ewing Road.
Theft: A woman reported her teenage son’s $600 iPhone device was stolen at a McClurg Road business.
Aggravated menacing: A woman reported a man threatened to shoot her while she was at his Cook Avenue apartment.
Aggravated menacing: A Tod Avenue man told authorities a former friend threatened to harm him and to get someone to place a gun to the accuser’s head.
