Fourth-graders at Dobbins Elementary played magicians during the science magic show June 4.
Each student had an individual trick which they performed for an audience of teachers, students, family and friends. While performing, students had to explain the trick using the scientific method. This included the hypothesis, materials, purpose, procedure, observation and conclusion.
“The students have to perform their experiments over and over and explain what’s happening and why,” said Elaine Morlan, fourth-grade teacher.
Before the show, students performed their tricks for a grade.
“They do their tricks before the show for a grade and to make sure everything works right,” said Morlan.
Giorgio Kalouris, also known as Giorgio the Great, had magical milk.
“If you put milk and food coloring in a bowl, then soap in the middle, all the food coloring will spread away,” said Kalouris.
Will Blumel displayed his Wondrous Will’s Water Works. His trick was an under water fountain used ice cubes in a tub of warm water.
“I practiced it about 10 times,” said Blumel.
